Drill pipe is one of the main components of drilling tools. During drilling, power is transmitted to core pipes, drills, drilling tools, etc. Due to the complicated geological conditions in the underground, a hole with a depth of 100 meters is very likely to contain both soft and hard formations. Traditional drill pipes cannot meet the drilling requirements under this special condition and are used for downhole drillers.It brings great difficulties, which is not conducive to the transformation and development of enterprises. Therefore, it is very important to find a solution to the problem. Through the analysis of drilling equipment, field working environment and construction formation, the whole process of traditional drill pipe drilling is studied.

The traditional drill pipe mainly hasOuter flat drill pipe, spiral grooved drill pipe, twist drill pipe, They have the following advantages and disadvantages in the drilling process:

1. The outer surface of the outer flat drill pipe is smooth and the rotation resistance is small. It is suitable for drilling with hard formation of the whole hole body and can realize automatic unscrewing of the drill pipe. When soft stratum or broken zone is encountered, the slag discharge channel is unstable, which can not meet the requirements of slag discharge, and the drilling efficiency is low, which is easy to cause the accident of holding and burying.

2. Spiral grooving drill pipe is to process spiral grooves on the rod body of the outer flat drill pipe. It is suitable for drilling holes with hard or loose and soft strata in the whole hole body. It basically solves the slag discharge problem, has higher drilling efficiency than the outer flat drill pipe, and can automatically unscrew. Machining the spiral groove on the rod body requires high wall thickness of the drill pipe, the cost increases greatly, and it is easy to be twisted and broken. The spiral groove is narrow, and when the formation is simple and soft, the slag discharge effect is not obvious, even causing holding and burying.

3. Twist drill pipe, which is welded with spiral blades on the rod body of the outer flat drill pipe, is suitable for relatively simple soft formations, and has the characteristics of good slag removal effect and fast drilling speed. Its outer diameter size does not match the specifications of the drilling rig holder, and it is impossible to use the drilling rig self-unloading. Even if the method of rapid unscrewing has been developed and good results have been achieved, its unscrewing efficiency is still not comparable to that of the outer flat drill pipe. The blade is thin, the strength is low, not wear-resistant, the use of high cost, the most important is its drilling resistance, easy to cause drilling deviation, and by the drill pipe diameter, drilling rig type and roadway conditions. The rib piece of the rib drill rod is a spiral structure, which ensures that there is enough gap between the drill rod and the drilling hole, which is beneficial to form a circulation channel between the orifice and the bottom of the hole. During drilling, the flushing fluid or compressed air is delivered to the bottom of the hole through the central hole of the drill pipe body, and then the broken rock debris at the bottom of the hole is carried to the outside of the hole along the spiral groove between the hole wall and the outer surface of the drill pipe, which has the same slag discharge effect as the twist drill pipe and is suitable for drilling in softer formations.

3. rib drill pipe advantages:

1. Wide applicable strata. The twist drill pipe is only suitable for simple formations, the outer flat drill pipe is suitable for harder formations, and the rib drill pipe can be suitable for all formations.

2. Easy to unscrew. When the twist drill pipe cannot use the quick unscrewing device, the workers have high labor intensity, poor safety, large amount of materials and low efficiency. Sometimes it takes half an hour to unscrew a drill pipe. Even if the quick unscrewing device can be used, its efficiency is relatively low. The unscrewing of the rib drill pipe is equivalent to the outer flat drill pipe, realizing the automatic unscrewing of the hydraulic drill.

3. Less accidents in the hole. When the stratum is complicated, if the twist drill pipe is used, it is likely to cause the drill pipe to be unable to rotate or even be twisted off due to its large rotation resistance. When the outer flat or spiral grooving drill pipe is used, it is very likely that a large amount of rock powder cannot be discharged in time due to its weak slag discharge function, resulting in buried drilling accidents. The rib drill pipe avoids the defects of the three, which is beneficial to the safe and smooth construction of drilling.

4. Good drilling straightness. Twist drill pipe rotation resistance, the construction process of its blades continue to cut the hole wall, easy to cause drilling deflection. The number of repeated use of rib drill pipe is 4 to 6 times that of twist drill pipe, and the cost is 1/2 of that of spiral grooved drill pipe, which can save more than 200 million yuan of drill pipe purchase fund every year. According to the trial statistics, from the beginning of January to the end of June, the buried drilling rate decreased by 1/3 compared with the first half of last year, increasing the footage by more than 2000 meters, creating an economic benefit of about 300000 yuan. 5 Conclusion The rib drill pipe concentrates the advantages of the traditional drill pipe. It has low rotation resistance, good slag discharge effect, few constraints, and high screwing efficiency. It can be applied to all formations. Its structure is reasonable, practical, adaptable, solves the problem of underground drilling, to speed up the speed of the footage, reduce labor intensity, reduce cost consumption is of great significance, in line with the special requirements of underground coal seam drilling.

After several years of use research, the rib drill pipe has been improved twice and three times, and the double spiral rib drill pipe and the three rib drill pipe are designed, which have higher comprehensive efficiency and are more suitable for underground drilling construction. The design and use of rib drill pipe is an important leap in downhole drilling technology, which is of great significance for optimizing the drill pipe structure and improving the drilling process.
