Definition of rock burst
Rock burst, also known as rock burst, refers to the dynamic phenomenon of sudden and violent destruction of the rock mass around the roadway or working face due to the instantaneous release of elastic deformation energy, often accompanied by coal and rock mass throwing, loud noise and air waves. It is very destructive and is one of the major disasters in coal mines. Rock burst can be divided into general rock burst and severe rock burst: the scale of general rock burst is small, which is manifested as the vibration of ore body and rock mass and dust and cracks; the scale of severe rock burst is large, which is manifested as the serious fracture of ore body and rock mass and strong explosion vibration. Rock burst is mainly affected by geological structure, ore body and surrounding rock structure, mining depth, hydrogeological conditions and other factors. In the fold and fracture structure zone, the ore body has high elasticity, high strength (hardness), the top and bottom rock is dense, hard, less cracks, large thickness, high water content of surrounding rock, and the mine with large mining depth is prone to rock burst.
