In order to overcome the "short board" of diamond drill bit manufacturing hot press sintering, to play the strengths of cold press impregnation, and to use the advantages of microwave sintering, innovative technologies can be produced. Although cold press sintering drill and microwave heating technology are not new technologies, they have been developed for many years. However, the use of high pressure molding in cold press impregnation drill instead of low pressure sintering in hot press sintering can greatly improve the sintering pressure; the use of microwave sintering instead of the current use of intermediate frequency sintering can improve the shortcomings of hot press sintering. Combining these two technologies is an innovation that will play an important role in improving the performance of diamond drill bits and improving the economic indicators of drilling technology.

(1) Diamond drilling is an important drilling method, which has been widely used in geological exploration and drilling, and has made great achievements and made great contributions to China's economic construction. Our country mainly uses hot pressing sintering diamond bit, after years of efforts, has achieved good social and economic benefits. However, the problem with this bit is that the footage of the bit is not ideal. The footage of Russian diamond bits in 8-10 drillable rocks can reach more than 100 m, while most of our machines are far from reaching this figure, which requires careful analysis and research.
It can be considered that microwave energy heating has the characteristics of internal heating, can overcome the "cold center" in the material, rapid heating, selective dielectric heating, easy automatic control, energy saving and so on. It has been widely used in many industries and achieved good results. At present, the medium frequency furnace heating is mainly used in the production of diamond drill bits in China. If it can be changed to microwave heating, it is a great improvement, which can improve the performance of the drill bit and improve the drilling speed.
(2) There are many reasons why the drill footage is not ideal, but one of the possible reasons is the low pressure sintering pressure used in our country. According to the research results, this pressure should be 15~22 MPa, while the actual pressure used in the production of drill bits in China is generally only 5~6 MPa. It can be seen that the actual sintering pressure is much lower than the research results, and much lower, which may be a "short board" with low performance and poor technical and economic indicators of hot-pressed sintered drill bits ".
