From January to October 2017, there were 3 accidents in coal mines in the province, with 4 deaths and a 0.038 death rate per million tons. The safety production situation continued to improve.

As of November 2017, Shandong has had no major accidents for 35 consecutive months and no major accidents for 76 consecutive months. Since 2013, the death rate of one million tons of coal mine has remained below 0.1. According to the goal of reducing the death rate of one million tons of coal mines to 0.138 in the 13th five-year Plan for production safety, Shandong has achieved it seven years ahead of schedule.

In terms of the world, the death rate per million tons of coal mines in the United States and Australia has been around 0.03 and 0.05 in recent years. It can be said that Shandong has reached the level of developed countries in terms of this important indicator of coal mine safety production.
